BIPOC-AIC to Host ‚Cis 4 Cash, Gay 4 Pay‘ Virtual Discussion

LOS ANGELES — BIPOC-AIC will host a virtual discussion among queer performers on September 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. (PDT), titled „Cis 4 Cash, Gay 4 Pay.“

BIPOC-AIC, the Black, Indigenous, and People of Color Adult Industry Collective, has hosted a series of online events in recent weeks exploring cybersecurity and consent for performers, and a discussion with Dr. Mireille Miller-Young, author of „A Taste for Brown Sugar: The History of Black Women in Porn.“

Cis 4 Cash, Gay 4 Pay“ will feature Natassia Dreams, Spencer Expensive, Milcah Halili, Wolf Hudson, Malcolm Lovejoy and Xoe Nova with moderator Tiana GlittersaurusRex.

„The discussion aims to illuminate and explore the reality of navigating and subverting gender and sexuality for success in the adult film industry, both through mainstream and independent platforms,“ a rep explained.

„BIPOC adult performers’ marginalization happens by default in the industry; gender perceptions play an inseparable role in casting and the amount and variety of work available,“ continued the rep. „To pass as more ‚acceptable,‘ and therefore ‚more marketable‘ in a heteronormative workplace, performers sometimes to align themselves within the accepted gender binary strictly to secure financial stability and independence. This conversation aims to showcase the variety of experiences performers have navigated and offer producers and companies alternatives to relying on gendered and limited language in the marketing, classification, and production of scenes.“

Tiana stressed the importance of discussing the various ways „gender and the social construct that has been created impacts performers’ lives.“

„Our panelists are actively breaking barriers and redefining success on their own terms despite the limitations currently set by the industry,“ Tiana said.

The nuances of self-representation „dictate that there are infinite possibilities for how a performer can choose to present and express their gender(s),“ the BIPOC-AIC rep continued. „This talk will also illustrate ways to respectfully engage with performers of various gender identities and the importance of reimagining and developing a more gender diverse and inclusive landscape in the adult film industry.“

Ticketing information for „Cis 4 Cash, Gay 4 Pay,“ a donation-based event, can be found on Eventbrite. The panel lineup is subject to change due to availability.
