GENEVA — Swiss queer feminist porn collective Oil Productions is the subject of the recent documentary “Fierce: A Porn Revolution,” directed by Patrick Muroni.
“Fierce” is currently being shown in festivals and opening around Europe.
“The film crew’s cameras follow a group of women and female-read people who create a world for women in a male-dominated sphere — porn,” German LGBTQ+ site Queer.de reports, noting that the documentary and Oil Production’s output will appeal to queer and FLINTA people. FLINTA is a German acronym for “female, lesbians, inter, non-binary, trans and agender people,” also described as designating “everyone but cis men.”
The Oil Productions collective — founded in Lausanne and active in Geneva — consists of Mélanie Boss, Nora Smith, Mahalia Taje Giotto, Olivia Schenker and Julie Folly.
Oil Productions, Queer.de reports, “aims to produce ethical and dissident porn that is intended to liberate women’s bodies,” distinct from much of mainstream porn’s promotion of patriarchal structures.
“Instead, their porn questions the existing structures and looks for alternatives,” they write. “Ethical means that the working conditions are good for everyone and that a safe space is created during filming.”
“Fierce: A Porn Revolution” opens in Germany Thursday.
